About: The Garrido family has been cultivating coffee in Boquete, Panama since 1959, when Teodoro Garrido established the family's first farm. In the mid-1970s, Teodoro expanded the family business by acquiring another existing farm ā now called, Mama Cata. Originally established in 1911, making it one of Boquete's oldest coffee farms, Teo renamed the farm, to honor its previous owner. Since Teoās passing a few years ago, the family farms are now under the watchful eyes of Teodoroās two daughters: Liliana and Gissell. Two fiercely passionate sisters, who couldnāt be more different ā but who share a vision, to take the business their father built into the future.Ā Ā
As well as exotic varieties, such as Geisha and Mokkita, Mama Cata is also home to the Garrido familyās best Pacamara. Known for its large, elongated beans, Pacamara has a unique flavor profile ā a little savory, a little spicy, but 100% unique. Processed as a natural, this lot is loud, with an abundance of fruit notes, while maintaining that unique Pacamara quality.Ā
